Grads,
Spring Break is here. Therefore, when you return it's time for your Grad Transitions Exit Interviews on Tuesday, April 8th. This is also the day that you must submit your completed paperwork.
Here is information for your interviews:
EXIT INTERVIEWS
Exit Interview Day: Tuesday, April 8, 2014 (Library). Note: you can interview earlier if you have completed all components. First semester grads must interview by January 17, 2014.
A few reminders about your interview day:
· You will be assigned a time for your interview. This will be posted by the library, outside C101, on the ramp by the Grad Bulletin Board, outside the PE Office and on the GT website.
· Dress appropriately for the interview. Be well groomed and dress as you would for a formal job interview.
Males: dress pants, collared shirt, dress shoes. A tie. No jeans or t-shirts.
Females: conservative dress pants, dress or skirt/blouse.
· Remember: no gum, no cell phones, no I-Pods or any other electronic devices should be in the interview area.
· When you arrive, sign in with the volunteers, pick up your folder, and fill out your evaluation form.
· Bring your completed GT work, along with an artifact that represents who you are and where you are going in the future. This must be school appropriate. You will hand in your GT work and evaluation form to your interviewer.
The Interview Process
The actual interview is approximately 10 minutes long. It is a student-directed discussion. The content of the interview should be as follows:
Introduction – introduce yourself and shake the interviewer’s hand. Describe who you are, what you are proud of, your hobbies, family experiences, where you volunteer, etc. Let the interviewer get to know you.
Discussion of Personal Artifact – discuss what you brought and the importance it has on you and your growth up to this point or future growth. How has this artifact help shape who you are, how it is significant for choosing your post-secondary options, etc.
Q & A – The interviewer will ask you several questions, including:
· What your plans are for the future: short and long-term
· What your financial plan is to help meet your goals
· What your health plan
· What you learned from your volunteer/work experience
· What advice you would give grade 8s as you graduate
· How have you changed over the five years of high school
· How have your plans changed from grade 10 to 12
· What are you most and least proud of during your five years of high school
· Discuss an adult who has impacted your life
· Discuss the challenges you have faced and what you have learned from them to help you in the future
· Discuss strengths and weaknesses you have
They may have other questions for you as well
Closure – Thank the interviewer and shake their hand. Submit your Grad Transitions Program work in your folder and leave with the interviewer.
